In 2060, after decades of research and development, humanity has successfully colonized Mars. The Martian colony became prosperous and self-sufficient thanks to advanced technology and perseverance. However, despite this, life on Mars was still tricky and dangerous, and humans continued to dream of making the planet more Earth-like.
The year 2125 arrived, and thanks to new terraforming technologies, it was possible to turn Mars into a habitable place. Scientists and engineers developed a project that involved changing Mars' atmosphere, creating oceans and a favorable climate, and growing plants. As the terraforming of Mars progressed, the colony's population grew, and the infrastructure became more complex. The number of technologies and devices powered by artificial intelligence and programmed to perform complex tasks also increased.
But in 2140, disaster struck. One AI responsible for managing terraforming made a mistake that led to catastrophic consequences. As a result of the explosion, part of the city was destroyed, there was a massive systems shutdown, and Mars was plunged into chaos.
The Eos region on Mars was one of the leading centers of colonization and terraforming. It was home to significant scientific and industrial complexes that used advanced technology to change the climate and create favorable conditions for life.
In the district's center was the largest city on Mars, where more than 10 million people lived. The megalopolis was built in futurism and was a true masterpiece of architecture, combining the traditions of the past and innovations of the future.
But one day, as a result of a manufactured catastrophe, the district "Eos" was utterly destroyed, and on its ruins appeared numerous gangs that began to organize battles for territories. In this area, you can often see shootouts, as well as battles with the use of specially protected vehicles laden with weapons.
Building a paradise on a new planet, the people of Eos could not believe the catastrophe. Many were desperate and could not survive except to take up arms and fight for resources. Cruelty and dependency plagued Mars. Each of the survivors understood that their stay on the deadly planet had no chance for a favorable outcome - each of them would die on Mars. During the time of terraforming, the humans had practically stopped needing resources; they couldn't get used to the barren red wastelands with no single instrument left to bring anything back—none except weapons.
The arms merchants had become the new kings of Eos.
Surviving in utter madness, people tried to band together, but the sense of fear of betrayal eroded them from within. It was not uncommon to see a hundred people killing each other in one neighborhood of formerly prosperous cities on an every-man-for-himself basis. Despite the complete and total absence of any possibility of returning to Earth, there was still hope. The mercenaries and thugs, who used to be scientists, realized that if they could gather the remaining resources from the small reserves that survived the catastrophe, life on Mars could be restored. Arms dealers, eager to get their hands on the last riches on the planet, also realized this. The world had descended into chaos.
